Hiring a Handyman in Grand Rapids: What to Expect

If you have never hired a handyman before, or you have had a bad experience and are not sure what is normal, this is for you. Here is an honest rundown of how the process works.

The First Call

When you call or fill out the estimate form, we will ask a few questions about the job: what needs to be done, roughly how big, and where you are located. We serve the greater Grand Rapids area including Holland, Muskegon, Byron Center, Grandville, Hudsonville, and Rockford.

If it sounds like something we can handle, we schedule a time to come out and look at it.

The Free Estimate

Every estimate is free. No charge to come out, no pressure to book. We look at the work, ask a few more questions, and give you a straight number.

For straightforward jobs (a leaking faucet, a door that won't close, a drywall patch), we can usually quote on the spot. For bigger work like a roof repair or exterior project, we may follow up with a written estimate the next day.

The estimate covers labor. Materials are handled one of two ways: you order and pay for them yourself, or you pay for them upfront and we source them. We will walk you through both options.

What Jobs Typically Cost

Small handyman work in the Grand Rapids area runs $150 to $500 for most jobs. Gutter work runs $200 to $1,500 depending on the size of your house and what needs to be done. Roofing repairs run $500 to $5,000 depending on scope. Larger projects are priced individually.

We price by project, not by the hour. You know the number before we start.

Day of the Job

We show up when we said we would. If something comes up and we are running late, we call. The work gets done, we clean up after ourselves, and you pay when it is complete.

If we spot something else while we are there, we will point it out and give you the option to address it while we are on-site. We never add work to the bill without asking first.

Getting on the Schedule

For standard jobs we can usually get out within the week. For emergency repairs, storm damage, or active water intrusion in the Grand Rapids area, we prioritize same-day or next-day response.
